(or what a Change and Comms Professional wants for Chistmas…)

Greetings all,

How fast did this year go hey? Goodness. I’m going to save the reflections until January, but I know with everything going on at the moment I don’t have the energy to provide much by way of intellectual grunt in this last post for the year! So I thought I would end with my professional wish list for Santa…and maybe you could add some items?

I’ll edit them in, if you drop them in the comments section ; - )

Dear Santa,

I’ve been a very good change and communications professional and here is my list of what I would like to get for Christmas. Not too fussed about the wrapping, and if a few of these are held over to 2011, then that’s cool too.

As always,

in eager anticipation and great appreciation,

xx

1)  to continue to work with clients and colleagues who value having great conversations of change

2) to find more opportunities for intellectual and cultural stimulation

3) work with people who encourage me to ‘lift my game’

4) to be part of an international association that starts to recognise the value of international members a little more

5) two more board members for my IABC Victoria Chapter Presidency

6) opportunities for international collaborations (ping Shonali Burke, Caroline Kealey)

@Linda:

7) A refill of inspiration and creativity (the year’s supply is running low)
8) A few opportunities to meet and exchange ideas, experiences and challenges with my peers
9) A couple of opportunities to reflect, review, rest and recharge…and finally…
10) That elusive role where I can add value, challenge and be challenged, create, collaborate and drive change through innovative thinking.
PS - Santa, I’ve been a very good girl this year! [ed note: ho ho bloody ho!]

@noelene

11) I would like also to have a steady stream of work for 2011 instead of feast or famine.
12) The time to make the most of all networking opportunities.
13) Early morning planning sessions in the beautiful paddocks outside my house
14) Inspiration that I can share with clients
15) New ways of doing things that make life easier and that I can share with others.

So I don’t want to be greedy, I already have so much.  I’ll leave space for yours. If we don’t connect in person before the end of the year, thank you SO much for your connection, comments and community. I really love writing these pieces, and it’s your engagement that makes it all worth while. Have a fabulous festive season, stay safe and play hard.

37 years later…

(and 37 years later … abit more happy to see Santa!)

Ping away, Jen! You know I’d love to do something “down under” (are you tired of people using that term yet?).

I confess to having many of the same wishes, particularly #10 as added by Linda. Being able to drive change is perhaps the greatest gift any business communicator could ask for. In fact, wouldn’t that be a great epitaph: S/he changed the world.

    Merry Christmas!

  6. Jennifer Frahm Says:

Ha ha - no, we will never tire of the ‘down under’ though it can lead to some can lead to some pretty tricky explaining when you send hugs and kisses from down under! Definitley a fabulous epitaph - and here’s to making it all happen in 2011! Merry Christmas Shonali : - )

  7. David Cooper Says:

Happy Christmas Jennifer and a Merry 2011!
In regards to three of your wish list
    1) “To continue to work with clients and colleagues who value having great conversations of change…Hopefully this can be achieved through the new and improved 2011 version of the “Change Management Professionals”!

    2) To find more opportunities for intellectual and cultural stimulation…As above.

    3) Work with people who encourage me to ‘lift my game’…I don’t think this one is needed…from what I see your game and organisational skills seems to be travelling pretty well!

In regards to the feast or famine on the work front…my 2010 was prone to that too…it seems it is a common affliction! I wish you the best on that front in 2011 and hope some of this festive magic also falls this way as well.

Enjoy your break and I’m glad that the Santa with the glasses has a firm grip on at least your right hand. ;-)

  8. Jennifer Frahm Says:

Ha ha ha! Thanks David — I’ve heard you have been a very good boy, so I expect that you too will be blessed with Noelene’s #11

Thank you for your contributions and conversations with the Change Management Professionals and yes, here’s to a fabulous 2011.
